U2 in 3D

So last night I went with some friends to see U2 in 3D at the IMAX theater in Chattanooga, TN.  Needless to say it was amazing!  It was just like being on the front row at a U2 concert, only better because you’re at like 20 different angles of the front row!  

 My three favorite songs in order of importance are Where the Streets have no name, Sometimes you can’t make it on your own, and With or Without You.

If you’ve heard the first, you know that it could be considered a pretty worshipful song – talking about the streets of heaven that have no name.  Our worship band at my church does a song called I am free in which they include WTS lyrics a lot of times.  They are two very powerful songs that mix well together.   

 My second favorite song is Sometimes you can’t make it on your own.  Bono wrote this song about his dad, which I think is awesome.  Below are the lyrics to this song.  Read them and think about the father/son relationship.

There is/was an obvious tension between Bono and his dad.  I hope that they were able to resolve whatever issues that were coming between them.  There is nothing quite like a healthy relationship between a father and his son.    

 

And then finally With or Without You.  I view this as more of a cry or plea for something more. It speaks of being unable to “live with or without you.” Many times, we get so wrapped up and consumed with something or someone, we hate it but if it ever goes away we realize how much we loved it.
