Dan in Real Life, New Screenplay, and my iPhone.

I have never been really diligent in keeping a blog updated, but this one IS going to be different. I’m going to try my best to keep it updated pretty regularly so all you mysterious internet people can be kept up to speed with my life and things that happen along the way.

So first off, some friends and I went to see Dan in Real Life last night.

I really really enjoyed it. Steve Carrell has run the full spectrum of roles and has done an incredible job in my opinion.

The premise of the story is Steve’s character DAN is in the middle of trying to raise 3 girls without their mother who died 4 years earlier. Between the 17 year old wanting to learn to drive, and the 14 year old falling in love after 3 days, he’s not the most popular person in the house.

After some humorous real life moments betweeen dad and daughters, they all load up in the car and make a trek to Rhode Island to the annual family gathering at Dan’s parents house.

Upon arrival, Dan meets Marie in a local bookstore and finds a real connection with her but she turns out to be his brother’s new girlfriend who is introduced at the family gathering.

The story follows Dan and Maries painfully awkward, yet sometimes funny moments of trying to keep this connection suppressed and the whole family clueless. I give his movie an 5 stars for quality writing, first class acting, and an all around fun film.

In other happenings, I’m in the middle of writing my next short film about a con man who, while pretending to be homeless on the city streets, runs across his estranged young son. The story deals with Forgiveness, Redemption and Unconditional Love. I’m aiming to be finished writing by mid to late December for a possible spring release.

Once I finish with this project, be on the lookout for talks on my first adapted feature length screenplay. More will unfold about this as time progresses.

And by the way, I now own an Apple iPhone. Yes, be jellous! It compliments my Apple Powerbook so well. (which I’m kinda frustrated ith right now cause as you can see my W key is sticking!!!) The fact that it syncs with my calendar, address book, and email is amazing! The Wi-Fi capabilities are pretty impressive too. The fact that I can be sitting in a wireless hotspot downloading music off of iTunes is just mind blowing! Apple, the iPhone is one of your best products yet!
